The holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) has been scheduled to host the 12th edition of the Mashhad International Holy Quran Exhibition.
Officials from the Astan-e Quds Razavi and the Quran and Etrat Deputy of the city’s Culture and Islamic Guidance Department in Khorasan Razavi Province held a meeting on May 9 to discuss the arrangements of the event.
The culture and Islamic department offered the plan of organizing the Quranic event and the Astan, the custodianship of the holy shrine welcomed it.
The Deputy Chief of the Astan Seyyed-Morteza Bakhtiari noted that 8000 meters of fair ground has been dedicated to host the exhibition.
The exhibition is aimed to achieve 16 accomplishments, including introduction of Quranic virtues as well as the Quranic potentials in Mashhad as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2017.
The expo is slated to start from June 1 in the holy city during the holy month of Ramadan and will be continued for ten days.
Mashhad was selected as the Cultural Capital of the Muslim World for 2017 during the 7th conference of the ISESCO member states in the Algerian capital city of Algiers in 2007.
Every year, Mashhad hosts over 27 million Iranian and some two million foreign pilgrims in the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).
